英語作文 篇1

  On Disasters

An old saying goes: Life is full of roses and thorns. As we all know, one’s life is full of unexpected events, some of which are wonderful and some of which are disastrous. Those heavy blows, such as, floods, snowstorms, and earthquakes, threaten to weigh one down.

However、it’s even worse if one can’t drag himself out of the grief in that mental break-down is more serious than the disaster itself. Instead of indulging oneself in sadness, one should take positive attitude towards life and contribute to the reconstruction of his or her life and hometown.

As for me, if I am lucky enough to survive in a disaster, I will try my best to help those who are suffering by donation blood or money. If I am a victim, I will endeavor to recover from the sadness as soon as possible and be certain to be strong and supportive to the recovery work. (154 words)

英語作文 篇2

The Bad Effects of Fake Diplomas

There has been a serious epidemic of fake diplomas in some big cities recently. Obviously, its appearance and development involve two parts: the demander and the supplier. People who do not have the necessary diploma to get a desire job naturally thin of this short cut, especially when so many profit-driven people make fake diplomas so easily available. Usually a certificate of Bachelor’s Degree costs about 200 yuan, which is really cheap compared with the 4 years of hard work and the pretty big sum of fees involved in normal ways of getting the diploma.

The victims of fake diplomas are first of all employers, who pay high salaries but do not get real talents. By and by, his business will suffer, and it takes time and money to fine another one who may or may not hold a real degree. People who have genuine diplomas are also hurt greatly. They have honestly spent 4 or even more years and great energy working hard in schools, but cannot get any advantage in job hunting. Thus, actually this phenomenon may encourage people to cheat instead of acquiring a degree honestly.

To combat the epidemic, we should stop putting ever more emphasis on the academic achievement of job or promotion candidates. Instead, practical ability and individual personality should be recognized as important factors of excellent job performance. Besides, effective measures supported by advanced IT technology should be introduced and taken to help employers distinguish genuine diplomas from fake ones. Once the demand disappears, the supply will be gone too

英語作文 篇3

I like reading very much because reading is the ladder of human progress. What’s more, reading brings us not only endless fun but also opportunities.

There are many available books for us to choose from, like history books, science books, literary books and so no. But what interests me most in history books---over the long course of history, the Chinese nation has witnessed changes of dynasties, transfers of governments, and foreign powers in modern history. This makes me realize the great responsibility of the development of the motherland. Therefore, we should study hard for the rise of the Chinese.

I sincerely hope that everyone can absorb more nutrients and cultivate a more noble character through reading.

I will keep traffic rules in mind all the way. If I ride a bicycle, I'll always keep to the right and never cross a road until the traffic light turns green. If I walk, I'll never forget to use the pedestrian crossing. Meanwhile, I'll regard it as my duty to help keep our environment clean and healthy. 英語作文 篇8

I’d rather have the university assign a roommate to share a room with me. As far as I’m concerned, this is part of the university experience. Students should meet new people and be open to new experiences. I like leaving this up to chance.

Actually, even though the university will choose, it’s not totally a matter of chance. We all filled out information sheets. The school knows what we’re majoring in, what our interests are, and our study habits and our goals. I think they’re probably very good at matching roommates using this information. They’ve had a lot of practice. Besides, if a mistake is made, I can change my room assignment next semester.

If I did want to choose my own roommate, I’d first pick some candidates from the list supplied by the university. Then I’d write to them and they’d write back. Through our letters, we’d find out if we shared common interests, such as sports or movies. More importantly, we’d find out if we like doing the same things in our free time. Because my investigation, I’d probably get someone compatible with me. It’s a lot of work to go through, though. Besides, the process of finding similar interests isn’t all that different from what the university does.

Trying to predict whom I’m going to get along with is not a science. I might choose someone who sounds just like me and still find that the two of us just don’t get along as roommates. Besides, I think it would be boring to room with somebody who’s just the same as me. I’d rather be with someone who has different interests and likes to do different things. Maybe I’d even get a roommate from another culture. After all, one of the reasons I’m going to the university is to be exposed to a lot of new experiences. So, I’d rather have the university choose my roommate for me.
