對于我們這些小孩子來說，在圣誕節(jié)這天，最受歡迎的人物自然是紅衣白發(fā)的老人。在西方，孩子們在圣誕節(jié)的前一天晚上睡覺時，會把一只大紅襪子放在床前或者壁爐前，等著圣誕老人在夜晚把送給他們的禮物放在襪子里，而大人們，總是會扮成圣誕老人把禮物放在孩子們的襪子里。
在不同的地方，過圣誕節(jié)的習俗也不同。比如說在瑞典，一些大公司的老板就會在圣誕節(jié)前一星期邀請員工參加一個圣誕午餐。而在瑞典還有一個慣例，那就是在圣誕節(jié)前一天的下午3時準時收看迪士尼的特別節(jié)目。
在捷克，人們時常會在圣誕節(jié)這一天預測來年有沒有好運氣。預測方法就是將一個蘋果切開，如果切第一下的時候就能看見蘋果核，那就代表來年會有好運氣，如果沒有看見，那就預示著第二年做事情都不會順利。女孩們會將自己的鞋子拋過頭頂，當鞋子落地時，如果鞋尖指向門，那么就預示著這個女孩子來年會出嫁。
