Unit5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came? Section A 3a Reading

Teaching aims:

To read a past story (guess and how to get detail information)

To learn to help each other

Teaching difficult and key points:

How to improve the reading skills

How to retell the past story

The analysis of the textbook:

The past continuous tense is very important in this book, and how to describe the past events is kind of difficult for the students. But this passage can be divided into 3 parts and tells of the activities of different people before, when and after the storm.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Greeting and Lead-in

The teacher shows the picture of our school and asks the Ss some questions.

Questions: where is it? What’s the weather like?

Then show another picture of our school.

Question: what’s the weather like?

Then the teacher compares the two pictures and let the Ss tell the process of the rainstorm.

T: How do you know there is a rainstorm?

Ss:

T: During the rainstorm, what happens?

Ss:

T: After the rainstorm, what happens?

Ss:

Step 2 Pre-reading

Listen to the tape and answer these questions.

Questions: How many parts can the passage be divided into?

How to divide it?

Before During After

Step3 Careful reading

Step 4 Discussion

1. What other things can bring people closer together?

2. How can we help each other in times of difficulty?

Step 5 Retell the story

The teacher asks the students to retell the stories according to pictures.

教學(xué)反思:

整節(jié)課時(shí)間把握得合適,教學(xué)任務(wù)完成。學(xué)生反應(yīng)比之前要好。

英語閱讀課的上法多種多樣,但總體上是分為這幾部分,導(dǎo)入,初讀,細(xì)讀,討論,再加一個(gè)復(fù)述。而目前英語閱讀學(xué)生主要有的問題有如下: 1. 詞匯量有限,學(xué)生由于文章存在生單詞,學(xué)生會(huì)覺得有障礙,從而失去興趣。2. 缺乏有效的閱讀技巧和策略。學(xué)生在閱讀的時(shí)候,試圖記住所有的內(nèi)容,并逐字逐句地看,時(shí)間與精力過于集中于一些非考點(diǎn)的細(xì)節(jié),而不善于通過整體閱讀去把握文章觀念和理念。3. 課外知識(shí)面狹窄,英美文化知識(shí)背景單薄。有些同學(xué)由于中西方文化差異,對(duì)文章理解完全偏離方向。

針對(duì)這種現(xiàn)象,我對(duì)本節(jié)英語閱讀課做了幾個(gè)設(shè)計(jì)來解決這個(gè)問題。本篇文章講述的是一個(gè)過去的故事,描述的是過去某一個(gè)點(diǎn)正在進(jìn)行的事情,最后通過這個(gè)故事告訴我們一個(gè)道理,災(zāi)難并不可怕,我們可以互幫互助,解決問題才是最重要的。我采用的第一個(gè)技巧是用語文分段的辦法來理解這篇文章,把文章分為暴風(fēng)雨前,中,后三個(gè)部分,讓學(xué)生可以從熟悉的中文環(huán)境理解這篇文章。第二個(gè)辦法是提高學(xué)生的興趣,通過觀察小學(xué)的課堂,我準(zhǔn)備了各個(gè)場景的圖片,每個(gè)場景配上圖片,再加上英語描述,讓學(xué)生看故事一樣學(xué)課文。第三個(gè)解決學(xué)生閱讀技巧的問題,從文章標(biāo)題預(yù)測整篇文章時(shí)態(tài)和主體故事,并且全文以天氣作為主線,暴風(fēng)雨前中后的明顯變化。并且在文章引入的時(shí)候,我用動(dòng)作解釋一些新短語的意思,讓學(xué)生學(xué)會(huì)用英文思考的習(xí)慣。

但整體看來,在文章初讀的時(shí)候,我直接放聽力讓學(xué)生分段,這個(gè)步驟進(jìn)度有點(diǎn)快。經(jīng)過科組老師的指教,可以先給學(xué)生兩分鐘初感文章,回答兩個(gè)簡單的問題。

第二就是準(zhǔn)備的圖片有點(diǎn)小,可以在細(xì)讀的過程中說問題的答案時(shí),再把圖片放在PPT中,讓學(xué)生加深印象。

復(fù)述的過程可以再多叫幾個(gè)同學(xué)上來,并及時(shí)點(diǎn)評(píng)。總而言之,作為一位老師,在教育的道 路上學(xué)無止境,可以多向同事學(xué)習(xí)取經(jīng),俗話說,教學(xué)有法,但教無定法,我們?cè)诮逃倪^程中還是需要根據(jù)學(xué)生實(shí)際,開動(dòng)腦筋,激發(fā)學(xué)生的主動(dòng)性。
