Module 2 My New Teachers By鄧潺 Period one  Introduction&Reading   Teaching  procedures Step1  Revision & Introduction ※Lead in: Show the picture of Anne Sullivan---Helen Keller’s teacher (教師選擇使用) 1. What do you think of your first week at Senior High? 2. Do you miss your classmates and teachers of your Junior High? Who was your favorite teacher in Junior High? 3. What adjectives will you use to describe your favorite teacher in Junior High? Here are some adjectives to help you answer this question:      Words learnt in junior high funny  kind  lively  shy  popular  strict  stupid New words: amusing  energetic intelligent  nervous organized patient choose the above words to fill the blanks. (More than one answer may be correct.) 1. I like teachers who are amusing  and can laugh with their students. 2. My father is lively and energetic,but he isn’t very patient. 3. His teaching is so well organised  and clear. 4. The most popular teachers are always very kind. 5. I think teachers need to be strict. Summary:All the above adjectives can be used to describe one’s personalities. Step2  Pre-reading 1. Look at the pictures. What are your first impressions of the three teachers?    Step3  Fast reading 1. Read the text fast and check your prediction. Find words and phrases in the text that match the definitions below.  (p13  Activity3) 2. Pay attention to these sentences.  (教師選擇使用) 1.) I think perhaps she was, as it was her first lesson with us.   I think perhaps she was nervous and shy, for it was her first lesson with us. 2.)She explains the grammar so clearly that even I can understand it. 3.) He answered the question loudly so that the teacher could hear him clearly.  4.) There are a few students in our class who keep coming to class late----. 5.) I will do well in the exam with Mrs. Chen teaching me. 6.) Mr. Wu ’s only been teaching us for two weeks and he’s already very popular. 7.) I’ve always hated making mistakes or pronouncing a word incorrectly when I speak English. Step6  Homework --According to the text, fill in the blanks My first impression of Mrs. Li was that she was nervous and shy. But now, after two weeks the class really likes working with her. She is kind and patient and explains English grammar so clearly that I can understand it.  She avoids making you feel stupid. I feel I’m going to make progress with her.  Mrs. Chen is very strict and serious and doesnt smile much. But her teaching is so well organised and clear. So most of us really appreciate her. I think I’ll do well in the exam with Mrs. Chen teaching me. Mr. Wu, who teaches us Chinese literature is a good-looking man. He is really amusing and tell jokes when we are getting bored. So we won’t fall asleep in his class and he is already very popular with us. Read the sentences in activity 1 P14   Encourage the students to find out themselves why the sentences are written in this way by asking “What do you notice about the verbs that follow the underlined verbs?” Step3  Language use 1. Grammar Extension ( reference for teachers)    Verbs followed by –ing  動(dòng)名詞作賓語(yǔ)的用法 動(dòng)名詞是由動(dòng)詞加上-ing構(gòu)成的,在句中作主語(yǔ)、表語(yǔ)、賓語(yǔ)和定語(yǔ),其中作賓語(yǔ)的情況最復(fù)雜,也最重要,是本單元的重點(diǎn)。這里將其用法分幾種情況加以講解: ※1.1常見(jiàn)的直接接動(dòng)詞-ing形式的動(dòng)詞有: (PPT) (※第一點(diǎn)提供兩種方式總結(jié)。請(qǐng)老師選擇使用) 考慮建議盼原諒,承認(rèn)推遲沒(méi)得想 避免錯(cuò)過(guò)繼續(xù)練,否認(rèn)完成就欣賞禁止想象才冒險(xiǎn),不禁介意準(zhǔn)逃跑 consider; suggest/advise; look forward to; excuse/pardon; admit; delay/put off; fancy(想象,設(shè)想) avoid; miss; keep/keep on; practice; deny; finish; enjoy/appreciate; forbid; imagine; risk; can’t help mind; allow/permit; escape 1.2常見(jiàn)的直接接動(dòng)詞-ing形式的短語(yǔ): feel like, give up, be used to, insist on, lead to, pay attention to, devote…to , stick to, object to, thanks to, thank you for, protect/prevent …from, be worth, succeed in, be busy in, get down to, have some trouble /difficulty /problems (in),spend time(in)doing等。 ※1.只能接動(dòng)名詞作賓語(yǔ)的動(dòng)詞:admit, avoid, consider, finish, excuse, enjoy, mind, imagine, permit, miss, risk, practise, suggest, dislike, escape, appreciate, forgive, keep, advise. 1.) The boy admitted being careless. 這個(gè)孩子承認(rèn)他太大意了。 2.) Mary is considering going abroad. 瑪麗正在考慮出國(guó)。 3.) He really appreciates having time to relax.   有空休息一下,他真高興。 2.下列動(dòng)詞可接動(dòng)名詞又可接不定式作賓語(yǔ),含義基本相同begin, start, continue, propose等 1.) Then we began making/ to make plans for the work.   然后我們開(kāi)始制定工作計(jì)劃。 2.) I propose making/ to make a change in the plan.   我建議把計(jì)劃作一些改動(dòng)。 3.like, love, hate, prefer等動(dòng)詞后可接動(dòng)名詞或不定式,但有區(qū)別。 后接動(dòng)名詞時(shí),表示習(xí)慣性的、一般性的動(dòng)作,接不定式,通常表示某一次的,具體的動(dòng)作。 1.) I prefer watching TV to going to the cinema. 2.) I prefer to watch TV rather than go to the cinema tonight. 4.stop, try, regret等動(dòng)詞后接動(dòng)名詞和不定式意義有區(qū)別。 1.) She stopped writing the letter.   停止寫(xiě)信 2.) She stopped to write the letter.   停下來(lái)去寫(xiě)信 3.) The doctors tried to save her life.   盡力救 4.) The doctors tried talking in English. 嘗試用英語(yǔ)交談 5.need, require, want做“需要”講時(shí), 主語(yǔ)多為某物,后多用動(dòng)名詞表被動(dòng)。 1.) My bike needs mending. 我的自行車(chē)需要修理了。 2.) The room wants painting. 房屋需要粉刷。 6.V-ing的語(yǔ)態(tài)和否定形式主動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài): do+ing被動(dòng)語(yǔ)態(tài):being done否定形式:not doing 1.) He escaped being caught this time.  2.) I can’t stand being treated like that. 3.) I thank you very much for your not telling the secret to others.
