many college students say that they are facing so many pressures in their lives that they are on the go from morning till night. what, then, are the pressures on college students?there are generally three kinds of pressures on college students. the first pressure comes from the students themselves. in order to become top students and to win a scholarship, many students spend more time on studying but less time on recreation or rest.

the second pressure stems from their peer groups. finding that their classmates are staying up late, many students will feel guilty if they do something else. they think the only way to overcome the fear of being left behind the others is to study even harder. the last pressure derives from the competition in finding a job after graduation. there is a sharp increase in the number of college graduates in job markets in recent years, making it hard for college students to find jobs. many students believe that the more knowledge they learn now at college, the more chance they will have in finding a job in the future on the job market.

a certain amount of pressures is not necessarily a bad thing. it stimulates students to make continuous efforts with their studies. however, too much pressure is certainly harmful to one’s well being. college students ought to come to terms with themselves and the world around them. moreover, they ought to learn how to relieve themselves of unnecessary pressures in their daily lives.

  On the Senior Empty Nests

For most senior students in universities, the last academic year has nothing to do with academics. To the frustration of professors, few courses are attended by students. And dorms are almost vacant with few lodgers. This kind of phenomenon, which has been called “Senior Empty Nests”, is common among universities of China.

Where have those absent senior students gone? Some lucky dogs have gone to their new jobs while the majority are still striving to get a job or engaging in their internship outside of the campus. The severe employment pressure has pushed senior students into employment market earlier. The anxiety of getting a job before graduation disturbs the restless mind of every student, which leads to skipping school of most students.

In my view, with senior students leaving campus earlier, their time of education has been reduced, which puts them in a disadvantaged position in the employment market. Students should start job hunting after finishing the courses of the last academic year. At the same time, the universities should provide career education for senior students.

great days to be remembered seldom come, but small ones surround us daily.

i do not have a roman holiday, but i have a non smoking day instead.

today a nc-smoking sign easily hooks up my interesting and rewarding eperience on the world non smoking day a few years

as a high school student, i, together with my friends, volunteered on a campaign to discourage public smoking by persuacling people in public places to etinguish their cigarettes and put the cigarette ends into our metal boes. and we would in return give them a memorial sticker bearing patterns and words voicing the theme of the non smoking day.

the first step is never a fast step. after hunting for quite a while, we set our target on a young man who was enjoying his cigarette at a bus stop. embracing the philosophy of "nothing ventured, nothing gained", we summoned up all our courage, walked up and asked, "sir, would you please not smoke in public places?" "it is none of your business! why are you so busily engaged in such things? go and mind your own eams!" he was great, i believed, for he was able to drag on his cigarette while at the same time not giving his tongue a break. and i further found out that for this man, such words as "good for your health" or "good for common courtesy" had long lost their appeal. maybe such kind of situation should call for some other policy. i managed a smile, blended with sweet words and tried to dilute his resistance. and when we put the sticker on his clothes, he was lingering over the joy of having done us "a big favor."

now you see, maybe flattery should be vindicated, for to please is a great step toward persuading and a smile is a curve that sets everything straight.

our work ran smoothly when things began easy to handle in the afternoon. but don't worry. troubles are just around the corner. the second hard rock we met was a middle aged man who appeared to be more of a smoking addict than a smokingenthusiast. nothing seemed to be capable of etinguishing that cigarette. even the wind seemed to be powerless. we showed him the cigarettes filled metal bo. we spotlighted the hazards of public smoking. but all was in vain.

mark twain was right, habit is habit, not to be flung out of window by anyone, but to be coaed downstairs one step at a time. i then tried to peel the stubborn onion one layer at a time."ok, i know how you feel. but do you know how other people around you feel?" "you see that child? actually he smokes more of your cigarette than you do!" "in fact, you are etinguishing one cell of lung cancer when you etinguish your cigarette. you are etinguishing one cell of the disease of selfishness when you etinguish your cigarette." it is that maybe that constant drops do wear the stone. at last he etinguished our words by etinguishing his cigarette.

as the sinking sun tinted the horizon, we began to count the cigarette ends, savoring our little victories.

that day saw me toiling for 6 hours, inviting loads of troubles, collecting 57 cigarette-ends,savoring hundreds of potential second hand smokers and developing for myself some sense of responsibility toward society.

though it was a little depressing to realize that those people would naturally pick up their "tradition" just where they had temporarily laid it down, yet how far can we estimate our actions would travel! and besides that, i was rewarded in another day.that is, the eperience dawned upon me the significance of care and consideration for other people. since then, i have been as cooperative as possible whenever i am asked to improve my public behavior and i am always ready to get involved in such volunteer work.

in a sense, the highest reward for ones toil is not what they get from it but what they become by it.

The undergraduate, who is on his way to a job interview, is stunned after hearing a ridiculous condition: the position is only for the man born in the year of dog. More ironically, a dog is eager to try. Conspicuously, that is a horrible depiction concerning the discrimination in job market. Over the past years, all kinds of discriminations(改為discrimination,它是一個(gè)不可數(shù)名詞) have (has) been condemned or made illegal, but one insidious form continue to thrive: some harsh conditions some employers imposed when recruit new,(句子成分不清,建議改為some harsh conditions are imposed on the employers when a company recruit new) ranging from height to household registration. So, what cause(改為causes) these problems? Firstly, thetremendous number of graduates- still mounting each year- make organizations powerless to screen out right candidates. (本句話說服力不夠強(qiáng)) For which(改為this) reason, numerous bizarre approaches have come out to find “the right person”. Moreover, the current state of affairs may have been encouraged by lack of severe penalty and punishment to those arrogant organizations who(改為which) shrink the obligation of selecting eligible staff. A good case in point is one of my roommates, with excellent performance in the job interview, failed to obtain the occupation(本句話可改為who performs excellently in the job interview, but fails to obtain the occupation,若要按作者的寫法,應(yīng)該在failed之前加but,用來連接兩個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單句,且將failed改為fail) as a consequence of inadequate height. The clear message is that we should get moving to launch a war against those irresponsible companies. Just as rejecting those duty-shrinking corporations, making complaint to administrator as long as we meet this situation.(整句話沒有謂語動(dòng)詞,且administrator使用不當(dāng),本句話可改為:To reject the duty-shrinking corporations, we should report the situation to the relevant authorities) More significantly, the authorities should charge with the obligation of laying down associate-effective discipline which seems appropriate in the light of current situation. By these methods, we will surely get through this tough period before long.

  My College Life

The college life is very colorful . At school ,we can become more and more excellent though our efforts. I think I should make a little progress every day, slowly is better than I am now.

With the increasing number of universitygraduate fail to find a job, some parents start to hold the opinion that goingto university is nothing but waste money and time. They argue that if familyhas the money to support child to attend to university, they would rather tospend the money to support their child to start their own business, which mightget more reward than go to university. In my point of view, I cannot agree withthat.

In the first place, university is not aplace only to learning knowledge from books, but also it could open a door to abrand new world to students. For instance, there are lots of students’association in university, students could choose one or two to learn andpractice their skills according to their hobbies, such as a universityentrepreneurs club is a nice chose for a student who are going to start theirown business after graduated, it will help them to make less mistakes on theroad to success.

In the second place, who could guaranteethat a high school graduates would make a success in business field. Apparentlythey are lack of professional business knowledge and experience. What’s themost important is that they are lack of contacts. Those factors will make themfail every easily, even though they have a strong money backup from theirparents.

To speak frankly, students should go touniversity if they get the chance. It will be totally different from go to thesocial college.

The Young Want to Be Leaders

An online survey conducted by the China Youth Daily shows that most young people (66.6%) want to be a leader, whether they serve in private companies or public sections* Only 4.8% say they are not interested in being a leader. This is especially comnionplace among people bom ia the 70s and 80s.

Some people say it is a good phenomenon that the young want to be leaders. After all, it shows that the young have great ambitions which will inspire them to work hard. Others, however, think otherwise. They argue that it only reveals so many young people are chasing fame 如d fortune, a sign that is bad for the healthy development of the young and the whole society.

Peisonallyj I believe the saying ICHe who doesn’t want to be a general isn’t a good soldier' And, it’s encouraging that we still have many young people who seek power from a mere view of the good of the people. So, I dcm^t think it anything wrong for the young desiring to have a position in the lead as long as they don’t eye it as a shortcut to fame and fortune.
